Lumi 1.0.17

Get the latest news delivered in a nice application for your Android phone
News applications are really popular on Google Play Store, since they come with lots of features and tools that could help users read the latest articles on topics that interest them the most.

Lumi is a nice news reader app, but it's a bit simplistic compared to the others that we've come across. It doesn't have a system that lets you pick the topics that you're most interested in, you need to use it extensively before it can learn your preferences.

Sleek UI that works seamlessly

The app launches with some instructions that you can use to make it faster to get accustomed to its features and tools. It also has a tutorial that you can check out. The tips would help you understand the app better and know where you can find every feature that you need.

It doesn't come with material design, which is quite inconvenient since it doesn't have a side menu that you can access. The app lets you use it without a profile, but if you wish to get access to all of its features, you'll need to register with an email address or connect your Twitter account.

Browse through all sort of news articles

Lumi is pretty basic, simply swipe the screen right if you liked an article so that the app can save it in your feed and you can check it out later. You can browse and read articles even if you're offline, but the app won't display photos in this case.

To save mobile data, you should have the app sync information only when you're on WiFi connection. You can also have the app open articles in your external browser or have it send you occasional notifications with the best personalized content.

More features

When you swipe the screen left, the app skips articles and thus learns what kind of content you're interested in. You can check out the profiles of other users and follow them, in order to get content suggestions from what they're reading.

It has a floating icon for sharing articles with friends on online social networks. Moreover, when you restart the app it automatically opens the last article that you've read so you can continue.

It definitely lacks a menu that would make it easier for users to pick the topics that they're most interested in. However, with extended use the app learns your preferences and only delivers content that you would enjoy.

VERY GOOD

It's a nice news reader app but it could use some more features, mainly the option to filter articles by topics.
