JuiceDefender
It seems that we never have enough battery when we need it, but there are some apps that could help you monitor consumption, JuiceDefender is one of them. It's one of the most popular battery savers in the store, but unfortunately it hasn't been updated for almost two years.
Dated interface is a real need of an update
There's nothing much that can be said about the UI as it's one of the most dated ones we've ever seen. The app desperately needs a new interface and instructions, as it has too much text written in a small font and not many users would actually bother to read it all.
Onscreen tips are extremely necessary considering that the app is more technical than others and some users might be left confused as to how the app actually works. In addition, it seems that the screen is to sensitive when using the app which makes it difficult to actually read the text with instructions.
Customize the app to your liking
At least the app comes with a whole set of presets that you can use. You must pick a mode to get started or you can leave the default mode enabled, but the app doesn't really tell users what each mode implies.
You'll have to open the guide in your browser and read about the there. The balanced mode turn on connectivity when the screen on and automatically enables internet connection when the screen is off, every 15 minutes so that apps may sync and refresh in order to post notifications.
Extend your battery life
The app also lets you create your own profile, but the setup takes quite a lot of time especially for non-experienced users, considering that JuiceDefender is quite a technical app.
Still, you can have the app disabled mobile data when screen is off, cut off certain apps from access to the internet at specific times or configure each installed app as desired.
However, not all features are available in the free version in fact, it's quite limited and you'll need to use the premium version for more advanced settings. There are two premium versions, prices vary between 1.99$ and 4.99$.

Bottom Line
Design / UI6
The interface really needs an upgrade with a more user-friendly design and some onscreen instructions. |
Function7
Users need to try the app out for a few days to test its efficiency, but it seems that it doesn't behave properly on more recent devices. |
Security7
It needs access to many areas of your phone, but it shouldn't really pose any privacy issues. |
Battery7
It's a relatively efficient app but users should take into account the fact that it constantly runs in the background and hasn't been updated for quite a while. |
Price8
Some of its essential features are locked and are only available if you upgrade for 1.99$ or 4.99$. |
Compatibility8
The developer didn't mention Android versions compatible with this app. |
It's not user-friendly, but can be quite efficient. Still, it really needs an update.
