If you have used the mobile version of the website, you'll notice that the dedicated app sports a more or less similar layout. The main screen keeps you up to date with the latest trailers, news, movies playing in theaters, upcoming titles, featured lists an other info.
Navigating to the different sections, such as Movies or TV, is quickly done via a sliding menu on the left side of the screen. Also from here, you can easily access your watchlist, check-ins, ratings, history and notifications. Searching is really fast using the bar at the top and one thing worth mentioning here is that search suggestions don't display images as it happens when using the desktop website.
Sign in and create a watchlist of movies you'd like to see
IMDb comes with a built-in video player that allows you to watch trailers right from within the app. If you are connected to the internet over WiFi, you can choose the preferred video quality and enjoy trailers in HD. One thing to note here is that the videos play only in landscape orientation, so you have to rotate your device in order to watch them.
To make sure you don't miss anything, you can choose to be notified in the app or the status bar whenever new trailers, photos, articles and other content become available. You can also follow specific movies or celebrities to be alerted when new related material is released. Even though this feature can be used without an IMDb account, if you sign in you can access some useful extra functionality, such as adding movies to your watchlist, checking in and keeping track of what's playing in your favorite theaters.
