Drudge Report
One of such apps is Drudge Report. The app stands out with its easy-to-use and stable interface, but it lacks some basic features that other news readers have.
Intuitive interface that could use a new look
The app doesn't come with a tutorial or any instructions for that matter, but users shouldn't have any trouble navigating inside the app, since it's quite intuitive and won't leave users confused.
The app also doesn't need online registration and it opens directly with the home page, featuring the latest articles arranged into categories. You can check out trending reports or see the top articles for the day. Refresh your feed with a simple tap of the finger or adjust settings to make the app your own.
Browse through multiple articles
Simply tap on an article to open, some of them come with pictures but others don't. If you wish, you can open articles in a browser or share it with friends on social networks. You can also zoom in on text and the app loads entire articles, without leaving out important details.
It lets you change the default font size or switch to night view, with a dark background and white text. You can enable notifications and have the app make your phone play sound and vibrate whenever new content is added.
Some shortcomings
The app has some flaws and it's missing certain features that are considered basic for news readers. It doesn't let you pick topics or at least view articles on a certain subject. Users must hit the back button whenever they finished reading an article, rather than simply swiping the screen as it happens in many other apps.
Moreover, it doesn't let you save content for offline reading or manage news providers. The app also comes with annoying banner ads, which you can remove if you pay 2.61$, a bit steep if you ask us. All in all, Drudge Report is a pretty stable news reader with some features but it's missing many tools that are now considered basic for applications in this category.
