Dailymotion 4.3.1

Watch HD videos, create playlists and sync them for offline access
Music is part of many people's lives and some continuously search for new songs and bands to provide inspiration in their day-to-day activities. Dailymotion has always been a good alternative to YouTube, at least when it came to quality videos. But it seems that the video-sharing network has started to lag behind.

Plain

UI, but very well-structured

The interface seems a bit simplistic, all tools are neatly arranged in the left side of the screen, while the banner at the bottom of the screen takes up quite a lot of screen space and even if ads stop being displayed after extended use, there's still a dark banner, that makes the app look unfitted.

In fact, you'll stumble upon many ads within this app, including full screen and video ads that may last up to half a minute. Still, the app has some advantages. It comes with two themes to choose from and the option to select a country of origin. You can share videos with friends on social networks.

Browse through various videos divided into categories

Dailymotion comes with a large variety of videos, neatly arranged into categories. You can easily browse through music videos, news, sports, tech and travel clips. There are many more sections to choose from, but sadly no option to filter videos by views, rating or even length, thus leaving users with the question which is the most played video on Dailymotion.

There's a search bar with auto-fill suggestions, in case you're searching for something specifically. Sign in with an account and you can subscribe to channels, create a favorites section and playlists, upload your own content or view your history. There's also the option of commenting on videos, but replies by other users aren't displayed.

Sync and watch videos in offline mode

This is where Dailymotion stands out from other video-sharing platforms, including YouTube. The app doesn't actually let you download videos, but sync them to your phone so they'll be available offline.

You can choose to sync HD videos, depending on your internet connection and add them to a playlist for when you're on the go. However, Dailymotion app doesn't let you browse through videos or change app settings while videos are playing. Thus, the minimize feature proves why YouTube's app has more downloads.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8

Simplistic design that doesn't make the app stand out in any way. It comes with two themes, but the interface seems ill-fitted.

Function8

The sync feature works smoothly, of course it depends on your internet connection. But the comments section doesn't work and videos can't be filtered by views.

Security8

The app needs online registration and it will definitely peak into many areas of your phone. Still, there's no actual privacy risk, considering that it also comes with incognito mode.

Battery6

Extended use will definitely impact your resources, so keep an eye on battery levels.

Price7

It comes with plenty of ads of all sorts and no actual option of removing them.

Compatibility8

The developer didn't mention Android versions required for this app.
