Blinkist provides you with one non-fiction story per day which also comes with an audio format. The app is a great way of reading inspirational stories on all sort of topics and fields.
Intuitive and sleek interface with many features at hand
Blinkist comes with a tutorial that shows you all the features that you can access inside the app, together with all sorts of tools for reading or listening to stories. New users would need to register before they can use the app, you can do so with your Facebook account or email address.
The app only provides you with a three day free trial, afterward you'll need to upgrade either to the premium version for 29.08$ per month or the plus one for 18.33$ per month. Both versions give you unlimited reading and highlights of 500+ books and 50 new titles per month.
Browse through all sorts of stories
All stories featured in the app are non-fiction and the app tells you to firstly pick several topics which interest them the most. Based on your picks, the app will provide you with suggestions of stories that you may check out.
The ones that you're interested in can be added in a playlist and you can have the app simply stream tracks, so you wouldn't need to read the text. A side menu gives you access to all sections of the app, including to the discover section and to your library.
As you read, you can highlight bits of text if you wish to check them out later in the separate section. Stories last for about 15 minutes each. The app also lets you download audio versions to your device and listen to them while you’re offline or on a bad connection.
Additional features
The app comes with stories in two languages, English and German. You can sync your library to Evernote as to make it available from multiple devices or synchronize all content to your device.
The app actually downloads content to your phone and you don't have to worry about the audio quality, it doesn't use computer generated voices making it more simple to understand the message behind the story. It comes with multiple categories to choose from, you can check out stories on success, happiness, innovation, progress and more.
