Sleek interface with plenty of features
The UI takes a while to load bands and genres, so you need to be patient after launching the app. It comes with a stylish design that lacks any kind of instructions.
A tutorial would be extremely useful, as the app may get confusing. The app doesn't come with any kind of settings and there's no home screen widget to use, but you can skip through songs from the notification bar.
Listen to a different band everyday
The whole concept behind this app is to provide users with a fresh new band each day. The bands play various genres, from rap and hip-hop to rock and indie. The app opens with a calendar and a picture of the band in the background.
Simply tap on days to view previous suggestions and a double tap opens the band's profile. You have the option of liking bands and songs or checking out the archive, which goes as back as September 2011, so there are plenty of bands to choose from. Still the app doesn't have an option to search for bands, as it's main purpose is to provide you with new material.
Unlock bands and buy songs
The app is a great way to promote new and upcoming bands and signers. It features videos, a biography, pictures, lyrics and media articles on the band. You'll also be able to find suggestions of similar bands. But, a few 'pages' in the band description are empty, making users think that the section has ended.
Every time you share a song you get 20 credits, which you can use to unlock other bands and songs for just 1 credit per band. If you wish to buy songs you can do so within the app but only if you install eMusic app. Band of the Day app has some issues, it won't play certain bands from the calendar.
