Hyperlapse 1.1.3
Gorgeous visuals
Hyperlapse is one of the simplest and most intuitive video shooting app’s we’ve tested. The introduction is also a joy to watch. The main UI shows what the phone sees through its lens, and the white round button at the bottom is the shutter. If the lighting isn’t too good, Hyperlapse will warn you. You touch to record and touch to stop, and there’s a time converter next to the shutter that tells you how long your resulted time lapse video will be. A 10 second clip will require about a minute of recording, just to give you an idea.
Time lapse done right
Time lapse is an imaging technique that involves shooting multiple photos one or two seconds apart and eventually stitch those photos together in a video that shows the progression of events much faster than they originally occurred. It’s generally used for things that normally happen very slowly, such as cloud formation, the sun rising or setting, a flower blooming, etc. But you can also use it for fast-moving objects, like people in a park, traffic, etc.
Unlike most time laps applications that only focus on the slow-moving things in nature, Hyperlapse is designed to cater to all types of scenarios, using a post-process slider that enables you to speed up or slow down the clip to set the speed that works best for that particular situation. It also has image stabilization, which makes a world of difference when it comes to time lapse videos.
One pretty cool feature for those who are pretty fond of selfies is the fact that you can record a "selfielapse" using the front facing camera.
Slo-mo, sharing and missing stuff
The aforementioned slider also enables you to slow down the footage to achieve a slow motion video. As far as sharing is concerned, you have the option to whisk your video away to Facebook and (of course) Instagram.

Bottom Line
Design / UI10
Gorgeous visuals, although we wish it has more explanatory notes about time lapse as a technique, to make people understand how to use it. |
Function9
Besides the time lapse function and the awesome post-processing slider, it also has image stabilization. |
Security8
As always, a certain degree of risk is involved if you aren’t careful what you’re sharing on Facebook and Instagram. On the good side, it doesn’t require an account. |
Battery8
Drains a fair amount of power, especially because you need to keep recording for long periods of time to achieve a decently-sized time lapse video/ |
Price10
There are no ads, no in-app purchases, and the app is 100% free of charge. |
Compatibility9
Requires iOS 7.0, has native iPad version. |
Hint: put your iPhone somewhere stable, point it at the sunset / sunrise, leave it there for 10 to 15 minutes.
