th some settingsThe interface is pretty straightforward, with few but essential settings to be made. Being a compass, the app keeps it simple with plenty of screen space, despite the toolbar which cannot be removed and banner ads on the bottom of the screen.
There's the option of changing the background image, with any pictures from your gallery and there are some themes for the compass, like night, digital and telescope mode.
You can also turn off the camera mode in order to save battery. Landscape mode can be selected, for a better view, but the app opens by default in portrait mode.
Initialize sensors and calibrate the compass
It's quite easy to use this app, simply point your phone up to the sky and move it in a figure 8 motion, this will initiate sensors which will be able to detect the magnetic north. For the app to give the best readings, the phone should be placed away from any metal and calibrated if needed.
The app uses the phone's sensors to detect where north is based on the magnetic field in nature. The app will display the values of magnetic fields in certain colors, depending on accuracy or the presence of metal objects nearby.
Choose the calibration mode and azimuth types
The app comes with a few features for choosing from several azimuth types, which is the angular measurement in the spherical coordinate system, you can select from degrees, miles, quadrants and more. There's also the option of calibrating the azimuth, in case measurements are a bit off. In addition, you can adjust sensor speed and save battery.
The app is completely free of charge but comes with ads. In order to remove them, you can upgrade to the premium version for 0.99$ and get many more features like GPS info via email or text message, various coordinate types, GPS speedometer and more.
