For those who want to make their Windows Phone look a bit differently from the rest, Xero Lock is one of the possible choices and it is waiting to be put to the test.
Cool looking and easy to work with front-end
The utility sports a really nice appearance that is consistent from end to end, as it features an appealing background image as well as some well made graphics that are shown onto the lock screen.
There are some adverts that appear inside the home screen and they are very annoying as they obstruct some buttons, making it difficult to use those functions.
Also, when you are about to unlock the device, the adverts are once again present, this time right in the middle of the screen and only by rating Xero Lock will you be able to eliminate them from this area.
Swift setup with helpful advice
This application instructs you on how to operate it properly right from the get-go, so there should be no issues from this perspective. More so, in case you want to go through the tutorial again, it is available inside the main menu.
The utility needs you to choose the lock screen image that will serve as the wallpaper and also pick a picture that acts like the Start screen and is displayed for an instant right after the phone is unlocked.
Quick activation and basic protection at a glance
Xero Lock offers you two ways of quickly activating the lock, the first one by pinning a tile on the Start screen of your phone and the other by tapping the toast notification that appears in the notification center.
The app tries to provide a bit of extra protection by allowing you to choose a 4-digit PIN code that will be requested each time the screen is unlocked. Unfortunately, you cannot change this passcode once you set it up so you should keep it well unless you want to reinstall the app.
With regard to the so-called "protection", there are some simple workarounds, so you can press either the "Start" or "Back" button and close the utility, while the power button on your handset will still function and can be used to lock the device the old-fashioned way.
