Microsoft's latest attempt in this respect is materialized in the form of a pretty nice tool that has a suggestive name: #TileArt. It will serve as a means of personalizing the Start and lock screen using user made pictures or images from the dedicated online gallery.
Clean and friendly GUI
This app comes with a tidy interface that combines carefully drawn graphics and a practical layout to offer you a smooth experience. The workspace for creating new Start screen layouts is pretty well sized, as it allows you to transform almost the entire screen into your canvas.
The functions and tools that are included in the package are neatly stacked inside the main menu hosted in the lower side of the screen, while the instructions on how to use the app are also one tap away.
Experiment with a new way of making Start screen layouts
#TileArt allows you to quickly add fresh tiles to the work area and you can also pick the number of columns with one tap, switching from 2 to 3 and vice versa on the spot. Note that this modification will reset the layout, so you will lose all the customizations made up to that point.
The image source can be the phone's local storage or the online gallery that offers few but high-quality pictures. All the transparent tiles you work with support all sizes, so your imagination is the only limit for the number of layouts you can create.
When it comes to actually transferring the newly made tile arrangement onto the Start screen, things can be a bit tedious. This is because you will have to pin every single tile manually and return to the app after each item is added and properly placed on screen.
Share your custom layouts and change the lock screen on the fly
A nice feature of #TileArt is the ability to help you let other users check out your hand-made Start screen and all you need to do is capture the screen and then tap the "Share" button inside the corresponding area of the app.
If you want to make the Start and lock screen match, this utility offers you the possibility to modify the latter by choosing a photo and then with zoom and pan gestures resize it to your liking before applying the modification.
