Shortcut 1.0.0.0
To make this a lot easier and more convenient for everyone, some specialized apps, like Shortcut have been developed and they make it possible to reach such system areas with a single tap.
Well organized GUI with a clean appearance
This application received a relatively common front-end, with decent graphics all around, as well as a convenient placement of the functions and commands, which makes it a breeze to work with.
The design is fairly common and the focus is on functionality, so as to make the information easier to read and the tiles quickly accessible from their corresponding areas.
A minor drawback is represented by the fact that the tiles pinned to the Start screen come only in 2 sizes, namely small and medium, as wide tiles are not supported.
Pin shortcuts to system areas on the fly
Compared to similar tools, Shortcut has a rather short list of system features for which you can add a fresh tile on the Start screen of your Windows Phone.
The respective section are the WiFi, Cellular+SIM, Bluetooth and Airplane mode, but there are a couple more listed inside the main screen. The flashlight and battery tiles are pretty self-explanatory, however the functions they are supposed to provide seem to be faulty on some devices.
More precisely, the first one doesn't light up anything, while the second function will take you inside the app instead of opening the battery status system area.
View device info at a glance
With the help of this utility you will be able to check out some of the hardware and software characteristics of your mobile phone right on the spot. Shortcut has a dedicated section where all the data is shown, as it is collected automatically when the application starts.
The information is pretty basic and doesn't go in-depth for any of the components, so you will have in there a summary that includes the OS version, memory size and the amount of free storage space. The current battery level as well as the status of the cellular and WiFi connections are there also.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7
The appearance of the application is decently designed, without bells and whistles and a good organization of the content. |
Function4
The utility offers a very limited set of shortcuts, some of which are not working well, as well as too few system details to be more useful in this respect. |
Security8
For some reason, the app needs to access the phone and owner identities, even if these seem to have no connection with its features. |
Battery1
The power consumption is tremendous as the application discharges the battery in a very short while if kept running. |
Price10
Shortcut makes everything available completely free of costs and annoyances, so it scores top marks in this area. |
Compatibility10
The application will function correctly on any device running Windows Phone 7.5 or above, without any other requirements. |
