Power Tiles 3.1.0.0

Quick shortcuts to some of the most often accessed system areas and some extra tools
Plenty of Windows Phone users are looking for the best method of keeping close at hand various system settings and features, a need that prompted the development of numerous apps.

For those who want a bit more control and are willing to try one dedicated utility that serves as a repository for various shortcuts and a few useful functions that are not yet integrated by default with the operating system, Power Tiles is one of the possible choices.

Practical and easy to use interface

This application is all about functionality and thus offers a clean layout, well organized and with every feature and command conveniently placed inside the two main sections you can access.

The shortcuts are split into 2 main categories, features and settings, so you can pick the ones you want to add to the Start screen in a simple way.

The generous tiles displayed inside those areas have some clear graphics, but lack text labels which could make a few of them harder to identify functionality-wise.

Pin the shortcuts in no time

Power Tiles comes with a relatively small number of nice set of tiles you can go through. Selecting the ones that you would like to have at hand, on the Start screen of your Windows Phone and actually adding them to that area is pretty straightforward.

All you have to do is press for a couple of seconds on any of the shortcuts to have them sent immediately to the Start menu. However, things are not as easygoing as they seem at first sight, due to some OS compatibility issues.

On some Windows Phone 8.1 devices there are a few shortcuts that refuse to function, so, for example, you will not be able to adjust the volume to custom values.

A nice feature of this application is represented by the presence of some indicators that let you know when certain functions are turned on. This applies to several settings like WiFi, cellular data, Bluetooth or connectivity.

The flashlight function has a separate menu where you have at your fingertips the ON and OFF commands for activating and deactivating the camera flash.

Another important mention is that the shortcuts you send to the Start menu support all tile sizes, small, medium and wide, so you should be able to arrange them in any way you see fit for convenient and straightforward access.

Design / UI8

This application comes with a tidy but a bit dull appearance, featuring some plain and simple graphics inside a well-organized layout.

Function5

The shortcuts made available by Power Tiles are not too many and some will not work on Windows Phone 8.1 handsets.

Security10

The app is perfectly safe to install and use as it doesn't touch any areas of the system that is not closely related to its functionality.

Battery6

There is a quite noticeable power consumption related to this utility, so the battery usage reaches high levels when it is running.

Price6

Power Tiles can save a few taps for its users, but it is limited in terms of contained shortcuts and has some drawbacks that may not be worth paying the full price.

Compatibility7

The application will work correctly on devices running Windows Phone 8, but with certain limitations for higher OS versions.
