Network Dashboard 3.0.2.0
Network Dashboard is one of the specialized applications that were designed particularly for this purpose and it offer a simple way of pinning a few shortcuts for commonly accessed system areas.
Plain and simple looks for a practical app
This utility is evidently focusing on practical use and functionality rather than on good looks, as it has common interface, without any graphical elements to stand out.
The display adapts pretty quickly to both portrait and landscape orientations, however the large tiles it hosts are more easy to access in the first mode.
Moving among the several section of Network Dashboard has a fluent feel to it, as there are no lags or other glitches of this kind. A bit annoying are prompts to buy the app, but they can be deactivated and dismissed very easily.
Choose the tile style and pin the shortcuts
The utility does very well what it is supposed to, namely allows you to get to the desired sections of the system in a jiffy. With shortcuts to the cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth, Airplane mode and location services this tool covers some of the more often visited settings.
From the "Settings" area of the application you can select one of the available tile styles, but note that only the "Metro" look is available in the free version, the others requiring a payment to unlock.
Insofar as the dimensions of the pinned tiles are concerned, only two of them support the wide format, thew WiFi and the Mobile Data shortcuts, as they offer some extra information besides letting you know if the respective feature is active or not.
Set disabled reminders and activate live tiles
There is a neat option you can find in the same "Settings" section, under a different module, namely the one dedicated to live tiles. To be more precise here you will be able to activate the background tasks that report regularly the status of the corresponding functions.
In case you are used to keep the Internet connectivity disabled most of the time to save battery and activate it only when strictly needed, the "Reminders" feature will come in pretty handy.
This particular function allows you to set up notifications for activating the WiFi or Cellular data at the exact time you choose, so as to allow the data synchronization for certain apps, for example.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
The appearance of this utility is fairly nice, but there are some things that could be improved, like the layout of the tiles and the addition of some customization options. |
Function8
The shortcuts provided by the app are not too many, but the extra features, namely the reminders and live tile options are most welcomed. |
Security8
The application needs to look into many system areas but not all of them are actually related to its functionality. |
Battery7
While Network Dashboard is running the battery usage is above moderate at times, but it doesn't need too much power to function well. |
Price9
Unlocking the complete set of tile styles can be done only after purchasing the full version of the utility. |
Compatibility9
The more recent devices that are powered by Windows Phone 8 or higher can have this app installed and running. |
