Focusing on the period between the 17th and the 19th centuries, Lookatart is a neat Windows Phone application that brings you a lot of amazing paintings at an impressive resolution, which you can admire for as long as you like onto your mobile device.
Beautiful looks and well thought-out layout
The utility offers you a neat interface, where all the paintings appear as pieces of a mosaic and you can immediately zoom in to the desired region and view the artwork available there.
The navigation among the numerous works of art available inside the main screen and through the app's menus is seamless, without any delays or glitches. Also, the functions and commands are all neatly tucked inside the main menu hosted in the lower side of the screen.
When accessing the picture details for any item included inside Lookatart you will come across some advertisement banners that appear at the bottom of the screen.
Admire up close the amazing paintings and browse the painters database
This application includes some of the most representative paintings of over 60 artists and the pictures made available to you come with very high resolutions, so you can look at every artistic creation as close as if you had it in your hand.
Zooming in or out can be done with the pinch gestures, using the dedicated buttons from the main menu or by double tapping the image. In order to go back to the small thumbnail display, you can use the "Reset" function.
You also have the possibility to view the painting and author name if you tap the small blue information button that appears when a certain zoom level is reached or if you press for a few seconds the picture to reveal the command.
Shuffle the pictures, view them as a slideshow and capture snapshots
Lookatart offers you a neat randomization feature that will mix up the painting tiles and this can be used just before starting the slideshow which will take you through the entire collection at a pace you configure from the "Settings" area.
Whenever you want to capture a certain part of a painting or include several tiles inside the same pic, use the specialized function from the main menu and enjoy some original photos.
If you want to enjoy the beauty of the artwork included in this app onto your lock screen, you have the possibility to set it as wallpaper provider, but this feature may fail to work properly on some handsets.
