GuidePost 2.0

A neat app that shows you the direction in which various places are, as well as the distance
Getting one's bearings when going on a trip or in other situations might be of the utmost importance for many users, so having at hand a means of establishing the correct heading would do a lot of good.

GuidePost is a Windows Phone app that could serve this purpose fairly well and it also has a fun side to it, so it might appeal to a lot of other users as well.

Pleasant appearance and practical layout

The utility comes with a nice looking GUI that features some friendly graphics and a very responsive display that adjusts to any modification of the display so as to offer the correct perspective every time.

The map navigation has a decent feel to it, with some minor delays when zooming in or out, while the Augmented Reality View offers an original appearance that also aligns in real time.

View how far you are form any place on Earth

GuidePost starts with a fun screen where on a fixed post are set some remote locations from all over the Globe. The distance to each of them is shown onto the corresponding indicator that also contains the name of that place.

The built-in map system is a useful helper that you can use to check out the relief, streets and get an aerial view of any location you are interested in. Also, in the lower side of the screen you will see the exact coordinates of your current location.

Check out all your points of interest from a different perspective

A neat characteristic of GuidePost is the augmented reality module that enables you to view all the spots you chose in the "Settings" area overlain on a real time view of your surroundings.

More precisely, when activating the "AR" mode you will see on top of the live camera view the direction in which all the locations are adjusting as you move the device. The cardinal points are also marked so you can use the app in this mode as a compass as well.

Function10

An excellent tool for anyone who is looking to find their way to a certain spot or have fun looking around to see just how far they are from various points of interest.

Security10

GuidePost is very discreet while running, as it only accesses system areas that are closely related to its functionality.

Battery2

Extensive use of this app in Augmented Reality View or aerial map modes is less likely to occur because the battery will deplete very soon.

Price10

An excellent deal by any standard, this tool is a must have mainly because it offers so much for free and lacks any nuisances other than a longer wait time when zooming in or out the maps.

Compatibility10

Tailored for any Windows Phone handset currently in existence, GuidePost only needs to be installed onto a device that is powered by version 7 or higher of the OS.
