My Location Free 1.3.0.0
My Location Free is one of the possible alternatives that Windows Phone users can try out on their mobile devices and it offers simple operation and accurate data.
Uncomplicated GUI, made for easy of use
The looks of this utility are less impressive because they focus is clearly set on functionality rather than visual appeal. Thus, the content is presented in an organized fashion, but without any bells and whistles.
The road map and aerial views are decent and the navigation also has a pretty fluent feel to it, with minor delays when zooming in or out while the satellite view is active.
Other than that, some annoyances that will follow you around every corner of the app are the advertisement banners that tare constantly modifying in the lower side of the screen.
Fast location and position details at a glance
As soon as you launch My Location Free it will prompt you to allow it to access the location services, which is mandatory if you want to get localized. Once you give it the required permission, the application will begin the scan and in a short while you will have the data right in front of your eyes.
The longitude and latitude coordinates are shown at the top of the list and, depending on the Bing maps data available for your location, you will be able to see even the building number, the street, city and postal code.
View map details and share the info
The default map shown inside the main screen is the road view, but this can be easily changed with one press on the dedicated button, so you can get the satellite perspective of the current position.
Zooming in and out are easy to do, with intuitive touch gestures, while sending out the location details is one tap away as well. You can opt to have the address included in the SMS, email or social network post or you can leave only the Bing Maps link to be shared with those who receive your message or visit your personal pages.
There is one thing you should be careful about when using My Location Free and it is the fact that it sends out anonymous usage data by default, a function that you can turn of from the "Settings" area of the application.

Bottom Line
Design / UI6
This app comes with an unattractive interface, that is bent on practicality, so from the visual standpoint it loses a lot also because of the pesky ads. |
Function8
The fast and accurate position detection with the sharing options users have at their disposal are the main advantages, but there are some setbacks in there as well. |
Security7
Besides the fact that it wants to access the phone and owner identities for some reason, My Location Free is set by default to send out usage data. |
Battery6
The amount of energy required to keep this application running is noticeable, so the battery usage remains pretty high. |
Price9
The feature set is completely free of costs, but the advertisements are quite annoying and only a purchase will remove them. |
Compatibility9
The more modern handsets on the market can have this utility up and running, as long as the OS is at least Windows Phone 8. |
