For those who keep their Windows Phone at hand most of the time, a tool like Convert Units could prove its usefulness quite rapidly, as it packs a set of relatively common measurement units and allows users to carry out the transformations in no time.
Less appealing and more practical layout
The simple GUI of this application is built for ease of access, as it displays the list with all the measurement units in a selected category, so you can start the conversions on the spot.
Picking the categories is not done from any special menu, as you might expect, instead you will have to swipe through the screens until you reach the desired area.
There is a quite perceptible nuisance that appears in every screen of the app and that comes in the form of some continuously changing and flashing advertisement banners shown in the lower part of the screen.
Select and convert units on the spot
The utility offers a very simple mode of operation, so you will be able to carry out the needed conversions in no time. There are a few of units to choose from and, overall, the application only covers some basic areas of interest, lacking many categories that are quite common among other similar applications.
Inside Convert Units you will find categories like length, area, volume, speed or weight, but also one for temperature and a most useful section dedicated to recipe related conversions. An important mention hat has to be made is that the latter area includes only Imperial and U.S. units.
The numeric keypad that appears when you tap a field to enter the necessary numbers allows you to use negative values as well, which can be particularly useful for the temperature conversions this utility is able to carry out.
In order to be able to use the "minus" sign and transform negative numbers you will have to press on the "." button shown in the lower left corner of the numeric pad for a few seconds and this will reveal the available symbols.
All the conversions are done instantly, without any delay, so you can check out the results immediately because they appear as you type in the amounts to be converted form one measurement unit into another.
