ConnectivityShortcuts 2.5.1.0
For those who are looking for a simple means of including on the Start screen of their handsets a few tiles that link to connectivity settings, there are several choices in the Store one of them being suggestively called ConnectivityShortcuts.
Convenient layout, made for effortless use
Dressed mostly in black and using the accent color as well, this utility has a clean GUI with a quite well organized layout that offers quick access to all the features.
The generously sized tiles take up almost all the space inside the home screen and they are neatly arranged, waiting to be used to access the system settings or to be pinned to the Start screen.
There are some flashing ad banners that appear on top of the main screen and their constant movement can be annoying and distracting at times.
Pick and pin shortcuts on the go
A nice characteristic of this application is the ability to make a basic but all-important modification to every item included on the list from the main screen. Thus with one long tap on any of the shortcuts you will have the respective item ready for editing.
The tiles are all animated inside the main screen, as they display a representative icon for each of the functions they link to, the text label and also a short description of the shortcut. This behavior is completed by the status of two system components, namely the WiFi and Cellular Data.
These tiles are the only ones that can show the current state on the Start screen as well, while for the others this is not possible due to the operating system limitations.
Tile customization options
For any of the 5 tiles hosted inside ConnectivityShortcuts you can make a few modifications, so the tiles that you pin will have a more special appearance. Thus, you can start by choosing a different icon style to replace the original one, but note that not all the items feature such replacements.
A modification you can make for any of the tiles is the text shown on the shortcut label, but since only small and medium sizes are supported, you will have to make it short if you want to see all of it.
The last tweak that is at your disposal relates to the tile background color, which by default is the same as the accent color of your Windows Phone.
Should you care to modify it, there are quite a few choices awaiting to be put to good use and you will see the modifications immediately, inside the main screen of the application.

Bottom Line
Design / UI6
The plain looks of the app will certainly not steal the show, especially because of the large tiles and annoying adverts. |
Function6
The shortcuts made available by this application are extremely few, but the customization options help it score some points. |
Security6
The utility needs to access some secure areas of the system for good reason, but it looks into others without an evident relation to the actual functionality. |
Battery4
ConnectivityShortcuts takes a lot of power to run properly and this becomes evident when checking the battery usage. |
Price9
Since it offers everything it has free of any cost, the app has a very good value, despite the advertisement banners. |
Compatibility10
The application is meant to work on all Windows Phone devices that are running version 7.5 and above of the operating system. |
