Connectivity Tiles 1.0.0.0

Add shortcuts to important system settings onto the Start screen or access them from one location
Quite a few Windows Phone users are used to keep at hand the most often visited areas of the system, but for some of them this cannot be done unless a dedicated application is used.

Connectivity Tiles is one of the specialized tools that were designed particularly for this purpose and it provides a simple way of pinning commonly used shortcuts to the Start screen.

Uncomplicated front-end, with a plain design

This utility is evidently focusing on practical use and functionality rather than on good looks, as it has common interface, without any graphical elements to stand out. The display adapts itself to both portrait and landscape orientations, however the large tiles it hosts are more easy to access in the first mode.

The shortcuts are arranged in two columns, but because of the oversized dimension of the square tiles they cannot be displayed all in the same view, so you will have to scroll a bit to reveal the last two of them that are positioned towards the bottom of the screen.

Shortcut customization on the fly

A nice characteristic of this application is the ability to make a basic but all-important modification to every item included on the list from the main screen. Thus with one tap on the "Settings" button you will have all the tiles ready for editing.

When choosing any of the shortcuts contained inside Connectivity Tiles you will have the possibility to assign it a different color from the plethora of available hues. The other option present inside the same area is to have the selected item pinned to the Start screen on your Windows Phone handset.

The tiles come in two dimensions, namely small and medium, as the wide size is unfortunately not available at this time. The voice command activation allows you to access the system areas with shortcuts in a simple manner, but having to go through Cortana on devices on which it is active will take more time and need a few extra taps.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7

The appearance of this utility is fairly nice, but there are some things to be corrected, like the layout of the tiles and the addition of some customization options to make the GUI more appealing and even easier to use.

Function8

The application does its job without missing a beat, so users can have a few of the most important system shortcuts pinned to the Start screen on the fly and shown in the color that befits them best.

Security8

For some reason, the app needs to access the video and still capture as well as the camera, even if these seem to have no connection with its features.

Battery9

This tool is very friendly with the system resources and keeps the battery usage very low as it only needs a bit of power to function well.

Price9

Since it offers everything it has free of any cost and nuisance, Connectivity Tiles is a very good utility to have, even if it needs a few more shortcuts inside.

Compatibility8

Tailored for the more recent devices, this application doesn't have any special requirements and runs on any handset powered by Windows Phone 8 and above.
