journi is a social app that you can use publicly, but it’s also an offline journal. It takes privacy very seriously, and it enables a high level of usability, unlike other travel diary apps.
Create a trip, save it to your passport
journi starts off with a map of the world and lets you choose the country you’re visiting, by tapping on it. The entry is automatically logged into the built-in passport, a booklet that displays the continent along with the countries you’re visiting. The visuals are crisp and appealing.
Blogging, automatic logging
You can post pictures and write a journal entry for each pit-stop, or any moment that you find interesting and worth sharing. The app also logs your travels automatically using GPS but doesn’t keep the phone’s radios on all the time, to save battery. It knows when to wake up and when to go to sleep, and still logs your every move to record it to your diary.
Public, private, or offline
Security and privacy are of top priority here. You can tweak the way your trips are shared and logged, and who gets to see what you’re doing and who doesn’t. journi uses the GPS location of your photos or your current location to create maps for your travel journal.
You also get notified when your friends start traveling, if you set the app to do that, and you can follow their travel updates on the map, or via the timeline. Careful, though. If you give journi cloud access, it will save the travel log in the cloud, as well as back up your photos and notes.
journi is very easy to use and lets you share your travels with others even when you forget to make an entry. Basically if you’re the type who brags about circling the globe every year, this app is for you.
