iSyncbox 3.1.25

iSyncbox lets you sync files across devices and platforms
Keeping all your media files in the same place is ideal since this means that you only need access to a single device. What’s even better is having it all in the cloud and being able to access it from everywhere at any time.

iSyncbox is a cross-platform tool that works on both iOS and Mac, but also on Android, Windows and Ubuntu, effectively encompassing almost all major operating systems out there.

The free software allows you to bring all the photos, videos and documents anywhere. All you need to do is install the desktop app on your computer and then, any file that you save to your iSyncbox is automatically saved to all your computers, the iDevice and even the iSyncbox NAS website.

Basic interface

The app’s interface is pretty basic and doesn’t exactly stand out. This has its good parts and its bad parts, of course. On one hand, it makes it easy for users to figure out what to do, but on the other hand, it doesn’t really fit with the iOS overall look.

There are six icons on the homepage, each leading to a new area. The icons are in a gradient gray placed over a blue background with a few clouds on it. As I said, pretty basic.

The File button will take you to the documents you have placed in the iSyncbox, while the Gallery one will lead you to the photographs, and other media files you may have, such as videos. If you want, you can play any of the videos, open the photos and documents and so on.

Some extra info

From the Event area, you can check what changes you’ve made to the account in a detailed log. You can also open content from this area by tapping on the entry. The Tools section allows you to sync your photos and contacts from your iDevice to your iSyncbox devices, although photo sync will need location service enabled, which is something that you should keep in mind.

From the Settings area you can check out your account info and log out, as well as the local used cache and the maximum size allowed.

While this may be a free solution, it doesn’t really compare to other similarly free tools that allow cross-device and cross-platform syncing. Another big issue is the fact that it was last updated back in 2013 and it doesn’t look like the other clients have gotten any more TLC from the devs either, which makes this a problem due to all the OS updates released in the meantime.
