Vision Test 2.1.1

Taking care of your eyesight is essential since we all want to be able to see as best as possible for as long as possible. Even if some of us wear glasses or contact lenses to help things along, it’s in our interest to maintain the same quality or to improve our eyesight over time.

Vision Test is an app that seeks to help you out a bit, even when you don’t have time to run to your optometrist for a check up. While it won’t replace an actual exam with your doctor, it will, at the very least, give you an idea about whether or not you should be heading there later today or if it can wait for a while longer.

Simple interface

The app comes with a simple interface that’s pretty easy to navigate. You can take the tests individually, such as for visual acuity, astigmatism, duochrome and so on or you can just go through it all on the same go.

Vision Test will tell you when to cover your left or right eye, how to best hold the phone (at arm’s length) and it will guide you through the process, asking you to indicate what letter or number you saw as the characters shrink perpetually. For some of the tests, you’ll have to tell the app whether you think any of the lines are more pronounced, such as for those for astigmatism and the duochrome one.

As the tests conclude, the app will ask a few personal questions such as if you smoke or are regularly in close proximity to someone who does, as well as if you often experience headaches or tired eyes after working on a computer for long period of times. Chances are you’ll fail this test if you work in an office environment.

A second device

The distance vision test requires users to get hold of an iPad or another iPhone or iPod Touch to test the clearness of vision and the eye’s ability to distinguish object details and shapes.

Once you’re done taking whatever tests you’re interested in, the app provides a series of results you can go through at any time. Sure, they may not be 100 percent accurate, but they should offer some hints as to whether or not you need to go running to the doctor or not. There’s a diagnostic page and a results page to help you better understand it all.

The app further tries to help you out by providing some advices regarding the topic of taking care of your eyes.
