Using the regular keyboard that comes with iOS can be nice, but let’s be honest, it doesn’t even compare with the smart keyboards out there that simply allow your fingers to glide on the screen to write your messages.

Even though this hasn’t exactly been a possibility for iOS users up until now, those who have upgraded to iOS 8 can now enjoy what Android fans have been playing around with for years – fast typing.

Type faster

Swype is such an app that allows users to type faster than ever. All you have to do is install it and go through the setting process so you can enjoy what it has to offer. The set-up process is extremely simple and it simply requires that you go to Settings -> General -> Keyboard -> Keyboards -> Swype Keyboard – Swype and to allow it full access.

Then, when writing a message next just click the globe button near the space button and pick Swype from the list. From here on out you can just relearn how to type on your phone.

Instead of typing in letter by letter as you have been doing, you can now input entire words. All you have to do is trace the letters with your finger. Sure, the app will mess up a few times, giving you the wrong suggestion, but it’s not the end of the world and the good news is that Swype will eventually learn more about how you type and what your go-to words are in a conversation.

Multi-language support

The tool supports 21 languages which you can download from the menu. There is also intelligence emoji support in 6 languages (although, just for the sake of it, two of those are US and British English). The app allows users to enable auto-correct, auto-space, sound on key press and the “Ask” feature when adding new words to the dictionary.

It’s also possible to pick one of the five available themes, which are pretty cool. With some of them, you won’t even see the space bar anymore, although you should rest assured that it’s still in its usual place.

All in all, Swype is a great tool that will bring something new to your iPhone. There are quite a few similar apps out there, some better than others, but this one is certainly among the top few available.
