GIFs may have been around for nearly three decades, but it’s in the past few years that their popularity has exploded, especially with services such as Tumblr available out there. They have become so popular, in fact, that many have found themselves holding a huge collection of GIFs on their own computers, having them at the ready for anytime the situation required it, when they’d better express themselves with a GIF rather than in words.

Blippy takes advantage of exactly this situation, hoping to help fans of GIFs see their dreams come true even when it comes to texting people, not only when playing around on social media.The app provides users with a special keyboard for iMessage in which you use GIFs instead of text.

Look for the perfect GIFs

From Blippy’s interface you can spend however much time you want to go through a rather extensive collection of GIFs. If you swipe them to the right, they’ll be added to your favorites list. These will be the ones that you’ll be able to scroll through when texting.

In order to get Blippy working, you’ll have to take a few steps, just like when enabling any keyboard on iOS 8. That means you have to go to Settings, tap on the General button, scroll to Keyboard, go to Keyboards, add a new one and pick Blippy from the list. Then, once it’s been added to the main list, just tap on “GIF Keyboard – Blippy” and give the app full access.

To switch between keyboards, just tap on the globe key and pick Blippy from the list. The keyboard layout puts the focus on the GIFs, which you can scroll through. You can also start typing regularly with a built-in regular keyboard without switching to the default one from iOS or any other that you may have installed.

If you’re passionate about GIFs, then this is the right app for you. It’s great fun to have around and you’ll surely get more of a reaction from your friends. Just like on the Internet, when you can’t correctly express yourself with words, your perfect reaction-GIF is there so save the day.
The app works nicely and the only shortcoming it has is the fact that it only works properly with iMessage.
