GIF Keyboard 1.4

It’s been nearly thirty years since GIFs were first introduced and their popularity has only grown over the years, especially thanks to all these platforms that have, in ways, encouraged users to use such files to express themselves. In fact, there are plenty of people out there who would rather express themselves with a GIF. There’s even a rumor that fans of the Supernatural TV series have a GIF for everything.

Well, for those of you who are as passionate about GIFs as the Supernatural fandom is, there’s an app for that. Intuitively called GIF Keyboard, it’s exactly that – a way to serve friends with GIFs when they least expect it.

Easy set up

Setting up the app isn’t exactly difficult, but you’ll need to set up an account, whether by giving the app access to your Facebook account or using an email address.

Then, you’ll have to treat the app as any other keyboard, which means going to the Settings area, tapping on “General,” scrolling to Keyboard -> Keyboards -> Add new Keyboard. Pick GIF Keyboard – Riffsy Keyboard from the list to add it up and then make sure you give it full access, so you can use it with as many apps as possible.

All you have to do next is go to your regular texting app and change the keyboard by tapping on the little globe button. The GIF keyboard comes with an extensive collection that’s divided by various categories. For instance, there are countless apps to use when you’re embarrassed, want to send a kiss, when you’re annoyed or bored and so on. Tapping on any of these categories will expand to reveal even more GIFs. Moving through the many buttons will help you discover more content and using the search feature will help reveal even more hidden ones.

The app has also received GIF Stories in a recent update. These were created for when sharing a single GIF just don’t do it and you have to pile up more of these together. These can be shared just like any other GIF, by copying them and pasting them to the app.

Switch to text

The app also comes with a regular keyboard which you can activate by tapping the corresponding button in the lower ribbon. This will save you the trouble of switching between the app and the regular keyboard, by allowing you to write down in between sending GIFs.

Just like any other similar app, when you tap on a GIF you want to send, it will get copied to the clipboard. From there, you’ll have to paste it into the text line and send it off to whomever it is you’re talking to.
