Musement 1.1

Travel apps all do pretty much the same things. They let you plan your trip, book flights and hotels, even rent cars and get suggestions for places to check out. Musement is a new app that does all this, plus a few extras. And it integrates these offerings so well that you can literally plan an pay for your whole trip in advance, all from the app.

Great graphics, smooth navigation

Musement starts off with the world’s most popular cities (Paris, Venice, New York, etc) and lets you instantly tap on these and see all the POIs and attractions in those cities, complete with booking options, tons of pictures to see and select your activity, tickets, descriptions, reviews, and even social sharing tools. Every page has a heart symbol that can be tapped for wish list saving.

One thing I’d like to see changed in this app is the way offers are displayed. The banners cover up almost all the pictures. One way to solve this problem while also keeping the fonts large would be to make the banners a bit translucent.

A retractable menubar sits on the right hand side. There you can log into your account, check your cart, see a list of purchased items, see your wish list and your history, and access various settings.

Awesome trip planner, assistant

Musement lets you avoid roaming charges. You simply tap on a city when you have a good WiFi connection and you get maps, city information and details on all the key activities for that city, all downloaded to your iDevice. Some features require a subscription, but the service is free of charge.

You also get suggestions for “must see” and “last chance” events, a personal account area with wish list, purchases, and account information, as well as handpicked activities (attractions, things to do, experiences, museums and art exhibitions, etc).
