Kobo Reading App 7.6

The Kobo reading app helps you read books and magazines
For years, there’s been a sort of battle between Amazon’s Kindle and Kobo, as well as other e-readers. It’s not just between the devices that the war is waging between, but also between the reading apps that they’ve all launched.

Kobo, as mentioned, is no stranger to this scene and has released its own apps for a series of devices, including Windows 8 Phone, Windows 8, Blackberry 10, Android, iPhone and iPad.

The tool allows you to find books, rate them if you’ve read them, and download them to your device. All these books get added up in the library, where you can find them at any time. Of course, it’s not just books that you can find there, but also any magazines you’ve downloaded and various Kobo Collections. You may also access another area of the app where you can check out all the titles you’re currently reading and the ones that are on your list.

Get some interesting stats

What’s cool about Kobo is that you can get some stats regarding your activity, including on the books you’re currently reading (with data about how much time you’ve spent reading and how many pages you’ve turned), the ones you’ve completed and an average of how many hours you’ve spent reading, how many you’ve dedicated to each book and how many pages you’ve read per hour.

When reading a book you’ll notice that the app goes full screen to give you a better experience. Tapping on the screen will give you access to a series of settings. You can, for instance, change the reading theme (white, cyan, sepia, charcoal, night), and the font size and type. Additional settings allow you to modify some features of the way the page is presented, the text alignment and the page transition style (none, fade or curl).

In the upper area of the screen, you’ll find easy access to the table of contents, annotations and book stats, as well as a search button to look through the book.

The app comes with a few customization features, such as a bunch of themes that you can download to play as background to your library. There’s also a social networking twist to the Kobo app. If you’ll log in to Facebook, you’ll be able to see your Facebook friends using the service too, what they’re reading and compare their stats with yours. You’ll also be able to share your own activity on the network.
