Italian Yummy 2.0.1
ItalianYummy is an app that seeks to introduce you to even more dishes that you’ve probably never tried before, recipes passed from generation to generation, family secrets that are making their way into the world.
Easy to use
The app has a simple interface that makes it easy to figure out by first time users. It’s quite intuitive so you won’t have to go looking for instruction on what to do next for that exact reason.
The homepage is divided into a grid showcasing the areas you can access in the app, namely recipes, shopping list, cooking time, timer, calculator / convertor and spaghetti measure.
In the recipe category, you’ll find additional categories for various course meals you want to prepare, be them appetizers, second courses, or sweets. As you overlook the recipes in a category, you’ll see how long it takes to prepare the dish, how many servings it covers and the cooking difficulty.
When you pick a recipe, you’ll be able to see a picture with the end-result, as well as some symbols regarding the traits of the dish such as whether it’s gluten or lactose free, vegetarian, hot or budget friendly. The ingredients are listed immediately after that and the instructions follow next, although you should expect more of a story-like recipe rather than the step-by-step style.
The ingredients of any of these dishes can be added to the Shopping List so you know what you have to buy when you’re off to get the things you need for dinner.
Helping tools
The rest of the areas I described earlier are more like aiding tools. You can find out, for instance, how long you should cook pork for, how long it takes before salmon is safe to eat and how long it takes to perfectly cook cauliflower.
The timer included in the app can be used so you don’t forget to take the dish out of the oven, while the calculator and converter can be used for further data. The latter can be used to turn ounces into milliliters or grams, and Fahrenheit into Celsius.
The last available tool is the spaghetti measure which means you can use your phone’s screen as an indicator on how big the bunch of spaghetti needs to be to cover between one and four servings.
