Apple fans haven’t always been able to make changes to the way they type on their devices. Thanks to some updates that came along with iOS 8, however, they finally have the same possibilities that Android users have had for years – switching up their keyboards.

Ginger Keyboard + Page is one of these highly useful apps that can take the place of your regular keyboard. Unlike other similar tools, this one won’t let you swipe your finger between letters to create words for you, but it will start suggesting what you might want to write next.

The app is actually made up of two parts, including one where you won’t need to have iOS 8 installed, one where you can write any text you want, enjoying all the features and copying the text from there and pasting it to the messaging app. Those with devices sporting the latest iOS versions will be able to enjoy the full package.

Basically, you’ll write a word and the app will suggest another that you might want to continue with. As time goes by, Ginger will learn your habits and give you better suggestions on what you might want to write next. These improve quite quickly and you’ll soon start thinking that the app is reading your mind. Of course, that won’t work for every message or email you send, not from the get-go, but it catches up pretty quickly.

What’s more, the app goes above and beyond just being a pretty-looking keyboard with a bunch of themes. In fact, it plays multiple roles. For instance, it will proofread your text before sending it over to whomever you’re talking to, detecting and correcting grammar, spelling and punctuation mistakes.

If the text doesn’t sound great for you, you can have the app try to rephrase it for you. Depending on what you’re writing, you’re going to get a a few suggestions or none.

What’s more, there are further tools to help you out, including one that allows you to translate the text into another language of your choosing, as well as one to look up synonyms and definitions for various words you’re using.

The app can also be used to read up the text for you in a human voice, which should help you get a better idea about the things you’re writing. The auto-correct and auto-capitalization features can be turned on and off from the Settings area which can be accessed from the app directly or from the keyboard area when you’re already using the tool in another messaging app.

Ginger Keyboard + Page is a great tool that will come in handy on a day to day basis. It looks and works great and it’s a good addition for any iOS users and everyone should give it a go and see if it’s a good fit for them.
