Fly - A fast video editor 1.0

Editing photos is something that we’ve all done on our phones, even if only to adjust some main features such as the brightness and contrast. Videos, on the other hand, are a bit of different story, and they’re entirely more difficult to edit.

Fly, is one of the apps that doesn’t just help you edit videos, but it also makes the experience a painless one, one when it’s extremely simple to go from camera to camera, to add transition effects, music and so on.

Learn the basics

As soon as you launch Fly, you go through a short tutorial to learn the basics and know what you can do with this tool. First and foremost, you can mix four videos at the same time, although we’ll conveniently call them “cameras” and pretend we’re behind a TV station’s mixing table or, better yet, working for a movie studio.

Cutting from one screen to the other, you simply have to tap that particular camera in the grid. The app in itself is quite focused on various gestures. For instance, swiping to the right will add a dissolve transition between one video to the next, while tapping on two cameras at once will create a split-screen. A two-finger tap on one of the videos will create a picture-in-picture effect.

Once the video is done, you can move on to the music section. You can add a bunch of tracks that the app has on hand. You can filter these by song name, artist or genre. It’s also possible to include a message in your own voice and add it to the mix.

Everything is for sale

Unfortunately, most of these features don’t actually come for free. The gesture pack, for instance, costs €2,69, and so does the audio-pack. Buying the entire Gesture Pack, Audio Pack and Clips Editor, however, will only cost you €5,49 which is a pretty great deal for a tool such as this one.

Fly is a pretty great app, although there are quite a few extra tools that it could use. In its current state, however, it’s still a powerful app that’s extremely easy to use. What's more, this is a young app that was launched only a few months ago, which means that it has a lot more room to grow from here on out, which will hopefully be for the best.
