A visual delight
Easily one of the prettiest benchmark tools we’ve had the pleasure of testing, Bonsai Benchmark measures 3D functions and next-gen Post-Processing performance. It does so by spinning a camera in a bonsai room with very crisp graphics and high frame rates. The visuals alone are worth downloading Bonsai Benchmark.
Does your device's "math"
Bonsai Benchmark basically does the math of the spinning room in real time applying various new elements (such as more leaves in the bonsai tree) and visual effects (like motion blur) to gradually increase the complexity of the environment and see how the GPU handles it. The end result is your Benchmark score which you can share on Facebook and Twitter.
The benchmark consists of Static Lighting (Lightmaps), Dynamic Per Vertex and Pixel Lighting, Normal/Specular Mapping, Motion Blur, Bloom, Sepia (Monochrome Filter), and other tests. There’s also an option to submit the score to the developer’s internal leaderboard but it didn’t work at the time of our testing. The Top 50 chart also didn’t work.
One more thing
It’s actually a shame that only the social network sharing works. Also worth noting is that Bonsai Benchmark doesn’t support multitasking. If you accidentally hit the game ad at the bottom right corner of the screen (and it’s very easy to do so), you’ll be taken out of the app and you’ll need to relaunch it and watch the very long intro over again.
