AnTuTu Benchmark 5.2.0
Looks okay but we’ve seen better
Visually speaking, Antutu isn’t exactly a looker. The menus are pretty raw and thick, while the graphics used to test the 2D and 3D performance of the device aren’t stellar either. But it’s good enough to do its job and convey the information to you fast and painless. The bar chart is something that deserves a little more praise.
Effortless testing
Antutu Benchmark runs RAM tests, GPU tests, I/O tests, and more. The test is relatively swift and doesn’t take more than a few minutes. You get visual feedback for every test in part. The 2D test scrambles some Apple logos on the display, while the 3D test uses a video-game like environment with a person moving under water in a pool surrounded by ancient statues. The graphics are very poor.
But unlike other benchmarking tools, this one actually lets you submit your score and compare it to others’ results without requiring an account (though you can make one). Also unlike other benchmarking apps, the score submission in this one actually works.
A word about security
While it’s convenient not to create an account for score submission, this also means that a security layer has been removed. Also, you’re not told what information gets passed along to Beijing AnTuTu Technology Limited, and no one can stop you from choosing an inappropriate picture for your avatar (and the same goes for others users’ whose picture you’ll see on your device).

Bottom Line
Design / UI6
Antutu Benchmark looks okay but we’ve seen better. The 3D test is particularly ugly and some of the graphics there makes no sense. |
Function9
Users can effortlessly test the performance of their iDevice and submit their results to compare them with other people’s scores. Everything works well and we were satisfied with the performance. |
Security9
You’re not told what information gets passed along to Beijing AnTuTu Technology Limited. |
Battery8
Interestingly, Antutu doesn’t put too much strain on the device’s battery. That’s pretty rare in benchmarking tools. |
Price10
Fully free of charge with no ads, no nag screens and no in-app purchases. Hats off to that. |
Compatibility9
Again, good score for supporting almost every iDevice in existence worth benchmarking, with an iPad version also being available. |
