Learn Languages with Babbel - Spanish, French, Italian, German and many more 4.4.8
In such cases, tools such as Babbel, the mobile version of the e-learning platform that’s been available in various languages for since back in 2008. The service has since earned itself a name and it prides itself in some 20 million users from more than 190 countries.
The mobile apps are built to help you learn a language on the road or anywhere else you may be. It’s pretty fun to go through the courses and everyone should learn a thing or two, whether they’re beginner learner or more advanced ones.
Easy start
The first lesson is free to download, while to get access for the rest of them you’ll have to pay the subscription fees.
First off, the app lets you pick between a series of foreign languages that you can learn with the help of some courses. For instance, you can pick English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish, Polish, Dutch, Indonesian, Turkish, Danish, Norwegian and Russian.
The app lets you pick your level of proficiency before letting you download the first lessons. This will customize the lesson you’re getting to your personal needs.
I found the lessons to be quite well thought out. Sure, when picking the beginner level the exercises weren’t all that complicated, but they did seek to drive in some basic communication words. Babbel asks for your input from the very beginning, trying to assess your knowledge levels, letting you choose between two words or phrases that correctly translate a basic greeting. Then, to drill in the new things you learned, you have to match the words and phrases again.
Basically, every time you learn something new, the app will take you through the same knowledge again to make sure you remember it.
To speak or not to speak
The app lets you choose whether to enable speech recognition or if to leave it off. Of course, the first is advisable since it’s always best to go through speech training in order to learn a new language, but if that’s impossible, then at least Babbel lets you go without.
Whether it’s worth it to register for Babbel’s language learning program or not, it’s your choice and you’ll decide on your own after you’ve gone through a course. The subscription gives you access to all courses and features for the selected language and it costs between €9,99 for one month to €5,00 per month for the year-long version.
