Truecaller 5.83
One of such applications is Truecaller - Caller ID & Block. It's a nice app that comes with lots of useful tools, but it may also pose some privacy issues. Such apps normally save your contacts on their server and displays the name of your friends if someone searches by number.
Simplistic and fresh interface with lots of features at hand
The app comes with a tutorial showing new users all the neat things that they could do inside the app. It has lots of interesting features and the interface is quite intuitive, with a toolbar on the bottom of the screen and some changes that you could do to the UI.
But before you can access the menu, you'll need to configure the app on your phone. All users must register with an account, you can use your Facebook, Google+ accounts or an email address. Next, you'll need to provide your phone number and the app will call you in order to verify it.
Block calls using this app
The home screen has a search bar that you can use in order to search by name or number. You can search through all contacts on your phone or in the Truecaller database.
All of your recent calls are displayed on the home screen, you can sort them by outgoing or incoming calls, searches or text messages. You can also see muted or missed calls and blocked numbers.
More features
You can block calls easily, the app lets you block common spammers like telemarketers and nuisance callers reported by other users. The app also shows hidden numbers, but don't expect it to do miracles, in the sense that it might not block all hidden numbers.
Still, you can make some settings inside the app, you can adjust the app's language, enable Android Beam and system notifications. You can also have the app display caller ID for phonebook contacts and adjust the display time.
There are some privacy settings, you can have the app allow friends of friends to see your contact details. The app doesn't upload your phonebook to make it searchable or public. You can verify this by going on the Truecaller website. 3G or WIFI is required for Truecaller Caller ID to work. Operator charges may apply if you're using mobile data.
