MCBackup - My Contacts Backup 2.0.5
One of such apps is MCBackup. It helps backup contacts and restore them to another device. It comes in handy when you're switching devices or you've bought a second phone.
Sleek UI with lots of features
The app doesn't come with a tutorial or any kind of instructions, which is quite inconvenient considering that users would have found some tips extremely useful. Still, it sports a really intuitive UI with quick access to the icon for backing up contacts and the settings menu.
The interface could really use an upgrade to include material design and some animation. It has an icon that provides access to the settings menu, but it would have been nicer if it had a side menu to go with that. Still, the interface is fluent and it keeps things simple, without being overcrowded with icons.
Backup your contacts easily
The home screen displays the total number of contacts on your phone, together with a progress bar when backing up information. The app doesn't require users to register with an account, you also won't need access to a computer or synchronization in order to backup information.
You can backup all your contacts with a single touch and send yourself as a .vcf attachment via email. All contacts can then easily be restored any time by simply opening .vcf file in your mailbox.
More features and tools
It comes with a settings menu, to let users make some adjustments to the app's functions. You can have it backup only contacts with phone numbers, those with photos and it lets you adjust the photo size.
In addition, you can enable a reminder and set a time interval for notifications. The app lets you adjust the file content, have it include phones, emails, websites, addresses, dates, notes and more information.
The app doesn't require internet connection, backup can be made offline and the information isn't stored on any server, so it's safe. You can restore it to any device and copy the backup file to your computer via USB cable feature.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
The interface is really fluent with lots of features at hand, but it would have been nice if it used animation and had material design. |
Function9
It works just fine, all contacts are backed up in a file that you can email and restore on any of your devices. |
Security9
It needs access to only a few areas on your device, so you don't need to worry about the posing any privacy issues. |
Battery3
Consumption seems to be quite high, keep an eye on resources when using this app. |
Price8
It's completely free of charge, no in-app purchases but it does come with annoying banner and popup ads that you can't remove. |
Compatibility8
The app should work on devices running Android version 4.0 or later, making it accessible to many users. |
It's a nice app but it could use some fixes and more tools.
