File Commander 3.5.13766
File Commander is one of the most popular file managing apps that you can find on Google Play Store and we can see why.
Sleek and intuitive interface with all features at hand
The nice thing about this app is its professional look, a combination between colorful icons and stray lined thumbnails. It comes with a side menu that offers access to all sections of the app, including settings.
You can't make any actual changes to the UI, there are no additional themes or skins but you can have the app display hidden files and folders and have the app refresh the search index every now and then.
It doesn't have instructions but you wouldn't really need them since it resembles file managers that you might be using on your desktop, but in a more simplified user-friendly layout.
Manage your files easily with this app
The app has thumbnails with main folders on the home screen, mainly for pictures, music, videos and downloads. Moreover, it displays how much internal memory you have left and lets you access recent files on your device.
You can sort files, search for certain folders or files or filter them by various criterias. Other than that you can rename them, copy, cut, delete or move them into other folders. There's also the option of compressing files or adding bookmarks. Users can also send files via WiFi Direct from inside the app. It also comes with an extract feature that lets you open compressed files to any connected storage, local or remote.
Other features and tools
The side menu is filled with all sorts of features, it lets you view recent files, check out internal storage, bookmarks and files that you've deleted. You can also use the search bar to find all sorts of files that you've saved on your device. It also lets you access local servers and manage files stored on them.
Moreover, it lets you connect with cloud accounts like Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, SugarSync, OneDrive or Amazon Cloud Drive. But all of these features are available in the free version which comes with some banner ads and an annoying message on the home screen, urging users to upgrade to the premium version. They must pay 4.11$ and would get access to many other features and tools.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
The interface is quite professional but keeping a slight casual feel. Still, it would need a lighter theme. |
Function7
It works just fine, although the free version is quite limited and in order to access all features users must upgrade to premium. |
Security8
It will access many areas of your phone, but you shouldn't really worry about privacy issues with this app. |
Battery6
Consumption is quite high for a file manager, make sure to keep an eye on resources when using this app. |
Price8
It comes with banner ads and plenty of suggestions to upgrade to the premium version. |
Compatibility8
It should work on devices running Android version 4.0 or later, making it accessible to many users. |
A really nice file manager but it needs a bit more work.
