BullGuard Mobile Backup 12.1.86
Fortunately, Google Play Store comes with some apps that help users do just that. One of such applications is BullGuard Mobile Backup. It has some useful tools for backing up information, but it's one of the least appealing apps in its category.
Dated UI that really needs an upgrade
We've seen our fair share of apps here and it's common sense that an intuitive and modern interface, would make the app more attractive to users. So would a tutorial to show them how they can access all sort of tools and features.
However, BullGuard Mobile Backup doesn't come with either. It doesn't have any instructions and the interface could use an upgrade to say the least. Moreover, it doesn't have material design or a side menu to quickly access its features.
Backup information
The first thing that you need to do after launching this app is to register with an account. Provide the app with your email address, location and phone number and you're good to go. However, it's not clear why it would require your number, since none of its features need it.
The free version of this app only provides users with access for 29 days and only 101 MB compared to the many GB that other free apps provide. All of these details you'll find in the account section on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen.
Some more features
The home screen only has two buttons for backup and restore on your device. There's the option to schedule backups or do it manually from the settings menu. In addition, you can have the app only backup when you're connected to a WiFi network so it wouldn't take up too much mobile data.
Users can adjust which information will be backed up, pick from MMS, SMS, contacts, calendar, photos, music, ringtones, videos or selected file/folder. However, considering the limited storage space in the free version, you won't be able to save lots of files. The app lets you choose the backup location, either the online drive or your phone.

Bottom Line
Design / UI4
It's one of the most dated interfaces that we've ever seen for a backup app, it desperately needs a modern UI with material design. |
Function6
It provides little storage in the free version, the app needs some more tools and features to make it more appealing to users. |
Security2
It needs your phone number and location but it doesn't have any features linked to them. |
Battery9
Consumption is quite low, you don't need to worry about the app draining your resources even if you use it extensively. |
Price7
No ads, but if you want to use the app after the trial ends, you'll have to subscribe to an account for 22.39$ per year. |
Compatibility9
The app should work on devices running Android version 2.1 or later, making it available to many users. |
It needs lots of more tools before it can compete against other similar apps.
