Nifty app with an intuitive interface
An easy-to-use interface is very important, especially for workout apps, as it needs to assist users and not confuse them with a clogged UI or complicated features. It comes with some tips to get you started, but it needs online registration with an email address or Facebook account to create a profile.
The app opens with a toolbar, featuring all sections of the app and some settings. Change the measurement system from imperial to metric in the settings menu under your profile.
You can also make some navigation adjustments, have the app automatically replan routes or provide you with voice outputs. It comes in multiple languages, especially useful for the TTS feature. It also lets you create your own highlight of a favorite trail, mountain bike track or other spot.
Set a destination and start recording
The concept behind this app is pretty simple, use it to plan routes for a wide variety of activities and sports. Plan a tour by choosing from biking, hiking, mountain climbing or running.
Adjust the current location and choose a destination, however the app doesn't open a map when selecting a location and you'll simply have to type in the name of your destination and choose from suggestions.
In addition, the app provides you with estimations on the distance to your destination and the coordinates of your current location. You can also choose a waypoint and adjust your fitness level. The app opens a map with your route and you can start recording.
Record your activities
Komoot uses topographic maps and turn-by-turn voice navigation to guide you. It saves tour data on your device, it records the duration and distance of your activity, displays a map with the tour and pictures of areas that you've passed through.
The average speed is also recorded and an elevation profile is displayed. Keep tour details private or share them with your followers. Offline maps are also available, but only in certain regions and only for a price of 35.68$.
