Hillydilly 1.0.11
The name is funny, but this is a serious competitor to the top apps in this category. Aside from a seamless interface, it provides users with free content to brilliant music although it still has a long way to go until it integrates all necessary tools.
Fluent and modern UI
It launches with a very comprehensive tutorial that provides new users with an overview of tools and features that they can find inside the app. The first thing that you need to do inside the app is to register with an account, you can use Facebook or email, unfortunately it won't let you sign up with your Google credentials.
The interface is quite fluent, with a side menu on the left but it doesn't have material design. Registration is needed in order to allow users to favorite songs that they like and wish to listen to later.
Discover new music
The main menu is filled with all sort of songs that you might want to check out, they're arranged into categories like top views and new songs. It has a section with genres and if you want to listen to various songs, you can simply check out playlists.
It shows you how many views each song gets and how many times it was favorited. The app comes with a search bar, so you can type in the name of the song and artist in order to find it faster. The playlists are arranged into various categories, like bike ride on a sunny day or summer songs. You can also create playlists of your own.
More features and tools
The app comes with controls in the notification bar, you can skip songs or pause them with the touch of one finger. It lacks a settings menu, which means that it doesn't allow users to make any changes to the app's functions or UI.
It could also use some more tools, like the option to comment on songs. Since it plays music, it could use some headset controls so that streaming would automatically close when you exit the app.
