µTorrent
Developed by BitTorrent, the company responsible with maintaining the protocol, uTorrent comes as a natural choice when looking for a torrent downloader. The mobile version comes in the same light package and, even though not as feature-packed as its desktop counterpart, it rises to the challenge.
Easy-to-use GUI with many functions
uTorrent sports a clean and intuitive interface that will get you started in no time. The fastest way to find torrents is to search for them right from the app, the results being displayed in the default web browser. Adding a torrent is done by simply tapping on the magnet link or torrent URL (yes, uTorrent supports both) in the browser. In case you are following a website where torrents are added on a periodic basis, you can subscribe to the RSS feed and keep up to date with the latest releases right from within uTorrent.
After adding the torrent file, you need to simply enter the download location to start the download. All the active torrents are listed on a single screen, with stylish round indicators showing you at a glance which torrents have finished downloading and the download percentage for each. Also displayed are the estimated time remaining and the download speed. Tapping on a torrent will offer you access to even more details, such as ratio, upload speed, peers and seeds. From this view you can also pause a download and delete the torrent or the torrent plus the associated files.
It performs splendidly and can handle multiple downloads
When it comes to downloading files, uTorrent is a real performer. The app can graciously handle multiple downloads without causing much stress on the CPU. The list of settings is pretty slim compared to the desktop version but it should suffice for most users. An extremely useful option here allows you to restrict downloads to take place only when your phone is connected to a WiFi network in order to prevent data charges. Also from the settings screen you can change the incoming TCP port and limit the upload and download speeds.
Another handy feature that makes uTorrent stand out from the crowd is the built-in media player. Supporting both video and audio files, the player can render movies in full-screen and, in the case of music, even creates a playlist with all the songs from a torrent. And, with lock screen integration, you can view the currently playing song and control playback without having to unlock your phone
