Messenger apps are quite popular on Google Play Store, as they come with plenty of features and let users chat and share files easily. However, many of them need users to provide their phone number in order to register on the network, but that doesn't mean that it utilizes your data plan.

ShoutMe is a nifty messenger app with many nice features. It needs your phone number in order to work, but only uses the 3G or WiFi connections to send messages.

Nice and sleek interface with plenty of features at hand

Users must register before they can actually start using the app. Provide your phone number and have the app verify you on the network. It doesn't come with instructions or any tips to get you started, but the UI isn't complicated at all and you'll get the hang of it fast.

Edit your profile by adding a username and a profile picture. Still, it seems to have some issues with uploading a picture from the gallery so it's best if you add images from the settings menu. The UI seems a bit boring and doesn't come with any customization features, like wallpapers or more emojis.

Chat with friends

Messaging friends is quite easy using this app, all you need to do is to find them in the contacts list and send them a text. Messages are sent via WiFi, so you won't be wasting precious mobile data.

You can also share pictures, snap a photo and send it to your friend, share videos or record clips and send them. Other than that, you can share your location, record audio or share songs from your gallery.

You can also use the meet up feature to see how far your friend is from your location and to meet up with him/her. The app also lets you share information on a contact in your phone.

Tweak settings to meet your preferences

The app doesn't need users to provide a password and it doesn't come with the option of logging off from your account, making it easier to switch to the desktop version or to another phone.

Users can also tweak settings and make sure their privacy is protected by turning off location services or delivery reports. You can also manage notifications and have the app notify you whenever you receive a message.

In addition, users can create groups of friends and message them freely using the app, since it works on multiple platforms and devices.
