Onavo Count 2.5-1
Sleek UI with features at hand
The app launches with a tutorial, showing new users how to access all sort of features and to make the most out of the app. It doesn't come with material design, but you wouldn't really need it since it has every tool at hand in the home page and under the overflow icon.
The app sends you notifications when you reach your data limit, so that you would be informed and better understand how the app works. The first thing that you need to do is to add details about your data plan to get better info and advice from the app. You need to define your plan, choose from recurring, pre-paid or unknown, if you're unsure and want to add your plan type later.
Monitor data usage on your phone
Turn on your mobile data so that the app can start monitoring your consumption. You also have to define the data limit so that the app would make sure that you don't exceed it. The home screen displays the amount of data that you've used together with information on how much data is left.
It displays how much data you've used on apps from certain categories, like tools, social, travel, photography, productivity, etc. It keeps track of mobile data consumed, together with how much data each app used.
More features
It shows details of app consumption in the foreground and background, on WiFi and an average estimate of consumption per day and minute. Onavo Count surely tells you which app consumes the most.
You can also see how much data you consume on that specific app compared to other people. It comes with some settings, you can change the plan type at any time and manage all sort of notifications. All in all, the app seems nice but it has all the basic features that your stock data tracking app has.
However, the latter displays charts with consumption, provides you with warnings and shows you the consumption of system apps. You can even disable background data on cellular networks for certain apps using your stock app, not to mention that it won't take up any additional battery resources.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9
The interface is easy-to-use with plenty of features at hand, but the app needs some more customization options and an icon on the notification bar that displays consumption. |
Function6
It works, but it has fewer features compared to your stock data monitoring app although it could have offered so much more. |
Security8
It needs lots of permissions from your phone, but it shouldn't pose any privacy issues. |
Battery6
Consumption is a bit high, so keep an eye on resources when using this app. |
Price10
It doesn't have ads and it's completely free of charge. |
Compatibility8
It should work on devices running Android version 2.3.3 or later, making the app accessible to many users. |
It's a nice app, but it needs some improvements and more features.
