Nova Launcher 3.3
Seeing how launcher apps rely mostly on design, reviews for such apps mostly showcase the opinions of the reviewer who may or may not like the design or may be too critical of its flaws. Nova Launcher is one of the most popular launchers in the store, but it does has its shortcomings.
Highly customizable but it lacks style
The app doesn't open with instructions or any sort of tutorial to make it more accessible for new users. Nova Launcher can be used to import settings and screens from your previously used or stock launcher, it detects the number of apps and folders you had and automatically imports them to your new launcher.
However, it's not that good at importing widgets from your previous launcher and only shortcuts to apps. Nova comes with a lot of customization options, but it misses the mark when it comes to stylish wallpapers as it doesn't have any and comes with few screen transition options. This all means that it's a great app for customizing basically anything on your screens, but it fails to provide a nice design and a new look to your phone.
Customize anything on your screens
It truly is great for customizing your phone, simply long press on a screen to access settings, shortcuts, widgets and wallpapers on your device. It's filled with all sorts of settings that you can make, you can change the grid size for apps and widgets on the desktop.
There's also the option of changing the width margin on the left and right, together with height margin on top and bottom in portrait. Set the Google persistent search bar for Lollipop, KitKat or Ice Cream Sandwich. You can enable infinite and wallpaper scrolling and even change the scroll indicator. The app also lets you change the label color and add shadows to labels.
Plenty of settings that can be done
The app comes with the option of changing the app drawer and adding transition animation to make it stand out when launching the app drawer. Still, there are few screen transition effects and the app has some shortcomings and bugs that need to be fixed.
For example, when exiting certain apps the phone opens the stock launcher and not Nova even if it was set as the default launcher. In addition to that, the app doesn't come with any filters or settings for sorting apps in the drawer.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
Nova Launcher imports apps and settings from your previous launcher and fails to provide a stylish alternative to other launchers. |
Function8
It has some bugs and takes a while to load the app drawer and widgets on the screen. It crashes especially when exiting certain apps, like Google's Inbox. |
Security8
It needs access to quite a few areas of your phone, but it shouldn't impose any privacy or security risks. |
Battery9
Consumption is really low, even for a launcher app. |
Price9
While the app is free of ads, it does come with a premium version that unlocks plenty of other features and costs 3.8$. |
Compatibility7
It should work just fine on devices running Android version 4.0 or later. |
It could use some work with stability and some additional themes.
