Neuron Gym 1.11
One of such apps is Neuron Gym, it comes with plenty of features and tools to keep track of your score and progress. However, the overall vibe of the app isn't that great, it lacks nice visuals and animation, only displaying images in a poor quality.
Well-structured interface but with poor visuals
The app doesn't really come with a tutorial or instructions for new users, so it doesn't really provide an overview of the whole application and what you can find underneath its interface. Still, it guides you through the whole registration process.
New users must create a profile before they can actually use the app. You can't do so with a social networking profile, as the app needs some personal information like your age, location and gender. Once you're done with that, you can start playing games for an initial assessment.
Improve your skills through smart games
You can pick from many games that improve various skills, like attention, memory, visuals, flexibility, problem solving or speed. Simply tap on one to begin, the app provides you with some instructions and an approximation on how long games last.
Games are really nicely made but the design and sounds are quite dated. The low image quality makes playing games quite tiring for the eyes, developers should really improve the visuals inside the app.
Still, the app only works in landscape mode which makes it easier to play games, which aren't easy meaning that you'll truly exercise your skills when you play them.
Get an overall score
When you finish a game, the app provides you with an overall score of your performance. It shows you with graphs and charts, which are your best brain areas, whether you're better at problem solving or at reaction speed.
You can track your performance, as the app constantly updates the score whenever you finish a game. One disadvantage is that it doesn't show provide you with reminders or any kind of alerts to have you playing games everyday.
In addition, only one game is available per category, which means that you can only improve your skills by becoming better at it, other similar applications offer a whole array of games to choose from. Moreover, you can't share your scores or even compare them with people from your save age group or level of education.

Bottom Line
Design / UI6
The image quality is really poor making it difficult for the eyes when playing games and the app truly needs a menu with settings. |
Function7
It only offers one game per category and it doesn't let you compare results with others or at least share them online. |
Security8
Online registration is needed but the app shouldn't pose any privacy issues as it only needs access to a few areas of your phone. |
Battery8
Consumption is normal, so you shouldn't really worry about the app draining your resources. |
Price8
It comes with annoying popup ads whenever you finish a game and wish to check out the scores. |
Compatibility8
It should work on devices running Android version 2.2 or later, making it accessible to many users. |
It's a nice brain trainer app but it still has a long way to go before it can compete against other similar applications.
