Google Play Store is filled with all sorts of messaging apps, some more popular than others. It all depends on their features and how many people actually downloaded the app. Line Corporation has delivered lightweight and well designed apps but they're best one by far is the messaging and free calls app.

It takes a while to register

Registration is required for any messaging app that you might use. Line needs you to enter your phone number and email address to create a profile on the network. It accesses your contact list to display friends that use Line.

Your profile is highly customizable, you can add a picture and even set it to be private and not share it with friends. A status can be added and you can set a public user ID other than your name. Also, users can add you to their friends list by scanning the QR code in the app or shaking their phones together.

Chat with friends

Themes can be added to customize the interface, however they need to be purchased with coins gained from using the app extensively. Tap on a friend to see their profile, chat or call. The app comes with stickers and emojis, but not all of them are free and some need to be purchased.

You have the option of snapping and sending a picture, taking a video and sharing it with your friend or voice message them. There's also the option of sharing your location and contact info. The messages are truly delivered instantly, as are pictures and other files you'd like to share.

Make calls and create groups

Making calls is also easy, sound and video quality is high but it does depend on your device and a strong internet signal. Still, the app lets you place calls even to international locations. Post pictures and videos to share with your friends.

There's also the option of creating groups with up to 199 members invited by text message or email. You can chat with all of them at once, share posts and files. Conversations and chats can be backed up, an email with the replies is sent to your email address.

Conversations can be backed up and files can be shared with friends in your group.	Security8 The phone number and email address are verified, your profile picture can be hidden as to increase your privacy.
Battery7 Consumption depends primarily on which features you're using. Video calls take up the most resources but the app doesn't consume more than other similar ones.
