Imgy 2.14
One nice way in which you can do that is by using Imgy. It has all sort of widgets that can help you squeeze lots of shortcuts to apps and contacts, without making your phone seem clogged with all sort of icons.
Easy-to-use app that could benefit from some more features
It doesn't have a tutorial with a presentation on what the app can do, but it does have some instructions that you could use. However, it launches directly with the settings menu, featuring all the things that you could do inside the app.
The whole concept behind Imgy is to select one of the multiple widgets it has and apply shortcuts to all sort of applications that you have installed on your device. The interface itself is a bit simplistic, it could have definitely used some more customization features.
Create all sort of shortcuts on your home screen
Instead of creating folders with shortcuts on your home screen, use Imgy and its widgets to make your phone look cooler. All you need to do is pick one of the 3 types of widgets to apply on your phone. They come in different sizes, but you have widgets for apps, bookmarks and your favorite contacts.
Once you've picked one and assigned it to your desired home screen, select the apps that you would like to add. Unfortunately, Imgy doesn't tell you how many items you can add on each widget, which means that if you add too many the app might crash.
More features
Once you've added the shortcuts, you can change the appearance of the app's setup button or have it automatically add newly installed apps. The transparency of icons and their sizes is changed based on their click frequency.
Unfortunately, the app doesn't let you increase the size of apps that you use the most, this can only be done over time. It doesn't have any other extra features which is quite inconvenient.
It could have used some tools for resizing widgets and for changing the background color. It would also be quite useful if it told users how many applications they could add on each widget, so that the app wouldn't crash.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
The interface is okay, although the app could use a nicer design with colors and the option to add a background to widgets. |
Function8
The whole idea behind the app is nice, it automatically resizes your icons based on frequency but it could use some more features. |
Security9
It only needs access to areas of your phone that are connected to its features, so you shouldn't worry. |
Battery9
Imgy doesn't take up that many resources so you don't have to worry about the app draining your battery. |
Price10
It's completely free of charge, no ads or in-app purchases whatsoever. |
Compatibility8
It should work on devices running Android version 2.2 or later, making the app available on many devices. |
It's a good idea, but it needs more features.
