Image Gallery 3.0

Manage your pictures by using a nice photo gallery application on your phone
People like to take lots of pictures and even keep the best ones on their phones. Sure, they back them up on SD cards, computers or the cloud, but we always keep our best pictures inside the phone.

Still, some Android devices don't come with a gallery viewer, so users are forced to find one on Google Play Store. Image Gallery could be an alternative, but the app is quite limited compared to other major applications in this category.

Lightweight but unappealing interface

The app sports a lightweight but really unappealing interface that covers the whole screen, including the status bar. It doesn't come with any instructions or a tutorial for new users to get a general idea on how the app works and the features that they might find inside.

Still, you'll notice that the app isn't complicated at all, it launches directly with the albums that are found on your phone and you can filter items by locations, times, people and even tags. But the feature is present in almost all major photo editors for the app doesn't excel in this department.

Manage your pictures

All albums are arranged into a grid, simply slide the screen in order to view pictures which are arranged in the same manner. Simply tap on one to open, you can navigate through images easily, as there's a slider on the bottom of the screen.

You have the option of sharing images on social networks or playing them in a slideshow. In addition, you can crop images, rotate them left/right or set them as wallpapers or contact photos. The app may also open the picture in various photo editors saved on your device, in case you wish to make changes to it.

Other options

Users can also access the camera directly from the app and snap pictures instantly. However, the app has some flaws, it comes with a settings section but when you open it, it's empty. In addition, it's filled with all sort of banner and popup ads, which might become annoying since they appear with a lag.

It also posts an annoying rate me message and has a whole section dedicated to all sort of free apps that you can download on your phone. Still, you can use the app to edit your pictures, it has several filters, effects and textures that you can add. You can also make some beautify edits and remove red eye effects.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7

The app really needs to upgrade its interface as it has a dated design and it makes the whole UI look quite clogged.

Function7

It works just fine although it could use some settings since the dedicated section is empty.

Security6

It needs access to some areas that aren't connected to its features, like accounts on your device.

Battery8

Consumption isn't high so you don't have to worry about the app draining your resources.

Price6

It comes with really annoying banner and popup ads, there's no option of removing them.

Compatibility8

The app should work on devices running Android version 4.0 or later, making it accessible to many users.

Editor's Review
