Pencil Sketch 4.5.4
Intuitive but dated GUI, unsuitable for a photography app
Naturally, photography apps should come with stylish interfaces in amazing colors, but when you launch Pencil Sketch, you feel like you're about to start a kids game, as it features images of crayons and three chunky icons.
The design doesn't get better as you start working on the app. We'll give it some credit for being intuitive, but it lacks instructions. Aside from this, the app comes with full screen and banner ads, that don't go away after extended use but may be removed if you upgrade for 0.99$.
Edit pictures instantly
In order to start editing, you must select a picture from the gallery or snap one using your phone's camera. There's the option of turning the image into a sketch or doodle, operation which takes the app only seconds to perform.
Sketches are more suitable for pictures of people and animals, as they create results with better edges and curves, while doodle style is best for nature and objects because it has a lower accuracy on edges. Sketches and doodles come in black and white or color and the photo editor can be opened with the tap of one finger.
Photo editor with plenty of effects and filters
The photo editor section is filled with plenty of filters, borders and crop options that you can use to modify the image. In addition, you can change saturation, warmth or sharpness and pictures are saved instantly.
There's also the option of adding text or stickers, but the latter must be purchased separately. Pencil Sketch also comes with several available frames, while more can be bought directly from inside the app. It also has a section in which it markets other applications created by the developer.
