DualMaps 1.3.2

Explore the world using Street View and Maps at the same time
We've all been there where we needed to check a location or an address and shifted between Google Maps and Street View, while wasting precious data.

Not to mention that such a method is tiresome and takes a lot of time, while people may be left confused and without finding the answer that they were looking for. But DualMaps combined the two apps into one by splitting your phone screen into two and providing you with Street View and Maps all on the same screen.

Sleek interface with some features

The app itself isn't complicated or complex. It's more of a utility app that you use only during critical moments, say while waiting at a stoplight or even on the street. It was created for people who don't have time to waste and simply need to get information fast.

It doesn't come with instructions, but you wouldn't need any seeing how DualMaps only has three sections to navigate in. It seems that developers simply took those two Google apps, combined them into one but failed to add anything new or leave their mark on the final application.

Check your location at any time

The app functions well, it displays Street View on the top of the screen while leaving space for maps on the bottom. You can navigate inside the maps simply by using gestures, as you would have done inside the original apps.

The resolution and image quality are the same as in the first two apps, but there's no shortcut for resetting the map to your location and instead users must tap on the 'hamburger' icon and access the menu. Still, when you change the location on Street view, the map below also reacts and rearranges your icon.

Share your location and tweak settings

A compass constantly points north as to keep you on track. The search bar on top lets you find locations easily, but it doesn't provide you with search suggestions, which is an issue since it may direct you to another city rather than the one you're searching in.

Some settings can be done to the app, you can select from multiple map types like satellite, hybrid, terrain and normal ones. There's also the option of disabling the compass or the ads by purchasing the full version for 2.89$. Users can also share their location if they please.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9

The app is very well structured, providing enough screen space for both views and the compass, but banner ads may become annoying.

Function8

DualMaps works just fine, it loads maps instantly and offers some tools but developers should leave their mark and implement interesting and useful features.

Security9

It shouldn't need access to more than your location services, but the app does tap into your media files for some reason.

Battery8

Since it needs constant internet connection and GPS, consumption is a bit high so keep an eye on resources if you're using the app for extended periods of time.

Price8

It comes with ads and the only option of removing them is by purchasing the pro version for 2.89$.

Compatibility8

It should work just fine on devices running Android version 4.0 or later, making it inaccessible to some users.

Editor's Review
EXCELLENT

A really nice and useful app, especially if you need to find a certain address in the city fast.
